Brand loyalty. Something that each and every company on this earth values and desperately tries to attain. Playstation or XBOX? Apple or Android? Marvel or DC? Some of the greatest rivalries in the consumer world and ones that will not disappear anytime soon.
Likewise, the car world has its own rivalries. Each and every one of you reading this now will have fond memories with one particular car and this may have inspired you to remain with that brand for the remainder of your automotive life. For Lauren, one brand continues to be close to her heart and has inspired her next build.
"I've owned the car for just under a year now. I came across it local to myself and absolutely fell in love with it. I previously owned another A4 convertible but in silver so when I saw the purple, I knew I had to have it, and - like my previous TT - I saw its potential".
The TT Lauren refers to is one that long standing DAILIED readers will be familiar with as it definitely left an impression:
"Fun fact is that I actually had a feature in one of your previous magazines with my bagged pink TT!"
Lauren's previous show car build was a based around a simple yet highly effective recipe. Be bold, bright, and bagged!
Firstly, the stance. The A4 perches on its haunches courtesy of the air suspension setup. "The biggest challenge was having the Air Ride fitted. It was a very big job for Aero Elite as they came across several problems but managed to get through them. I wouldn't have taken the car to anyone else."
Whilst Lauren's previous build was an out-an-out show car, the vision for the A4 has been slightly different with a higher priority for comfort and practicality.
"My TT was a heavily modified show car and because of that, I knew I wanted to create something practical & comfortable; not something that was overboard on modifications and would therefore be a cool usable daily. I've been there and done that with a show car and didn't want to create that this time around.
It was because of this I knew I wanted Air Ride on the A4 just because of the practicality as it makes for a really useful feature on a daily car. Not only does it look cool when it's sat on the floor, it's also very practical if you come across any bumps or uneven roads."
Next came the wheels. Lauren has opted for the JR23 alloys which feature a custom off-set in order to achieve the desired fitment.

Paired with the air suspension the JR23 alloys tuck neatly into the A4's arches creating a focal point when parked on your weekly food shop or in the office car park on a Tuesday morning.
What's more, for a car that's from the late noughties, the split alloys help create a slightly retro feel to the A4, which was revered when it arrived in 2005.
Praised for its refinement against competitors, the A4 Cabriolet was quiet and comfortable allowing it to feel like a more opulent option if you wanted a sporty convertible. It's downsides? High running costs and a lack of a space for additional practicality should it be needed.
"For me, the A4 is perfect. Not only is it a brilliant daily I could potentially take it to shows as well. I feel like you don't see very modified convertibles and I think they deserve just as much of a chance as any other car!"
The final feature of Lauren's A4 (and almost the elephant in the room) is the paintwork. It's bright and bold burst of colour whilst being incredibly eye-catching, is also rather mysterious.
"My favourite feature is the paint as it's such a stunning colour and I love the fact that no one else can have it! Unfortunately I'm not sure what the actual colour is. It's a deep purple with an ultra fine silver fleck that pops in the sun".
Like a game of cluedo that's running late into the night over the Christmas holidays, there are still many questions unanswered. How was the colour conceived? Who conducted the re-spray? How long has the paint lasted so far? What was the inspiration behind the paintwork?
Sadly, it seems we'll never know so for now we'll just have to enjoy the final product, and that sounds like Lauren's plan too.
"I don't think there's anything next on the build list for this car. I'm trying to keep away from major modifications. I wanted to try and set an image that you don't need to go all out on modifications to have a perfectly nice show car. The only thing I would do differently, is if I were the original person that had the car re-sprayed, I would've left what the paint was..."
